What to visit in Slovakia? Are there any interesting cities to visit in the country of our southern neighbors? Or is it something else? Slovakia has the most per capita castles in the world. Especially in the north of the country there are plenty of them. Some are huge, such as the Spiš Castle . Some are in very poor condition, but will probably be renovated over time.

If you like architecture and picturesque squares, be sure to visit Bardejov or Levoča . They are tiny, very compact towns. Extremely charming. They resemble towns in eastern Poland. For dessert, leave Bratislava , from which only a mohair beret throw to Vienna. And there is already a lot to explore there.

The party heart of Slovakia beats the most in Bratislava . The capital offers plenty of excellent pubs, bars and clubs. You will be able to dance, take part in a Slovak wine tasting or spend long hours with a glass of delicious local beer. Košice is equally partying. There you will find the oldest brewery in Slovakia! In smaller towns, such as Žilina , Poprad or Banská Bystrica , you do not have much to count on. But you will definitely find a lot of bars where you will have a good time with a drink or a beer.

Slovakia delights with its wonderful landscapes and natural beauty. To fully appreciate its natural values, go to the mountains . You can choose from many ranges, such as the Tatras , Low Tatras , Big Fatra , Little Fatra or Poloniny . There you will find dense forests as well as vast meadows and rocky crags. You will be able to admire not only the views, but most of all the diverse flora. If you are lucky, you will also meet wild animals. For example, bear, deer, badger, wildcat, wolf or lynx.

Slovakia is a perfect destination for those who are unable to sit still in one place. If you belong to this group and you spend every spare moment on some sports activity, then you already know where you should go. Slovakia has an incredibly extensive network of hiking and cycling routes . Both advanced and weekend hikers and cyclists will find suitable routes here. For fans of more extreme experiences, excellently prepared bike parks (e.g. in Ruzomberok) or climbing routes await. Be sure to also visit the Slovak Paradise , where you will be able to explore the incredibly varied terrain by walking on metal steps suspended over a rushing river or on ladders squeezing between rocks.

Apart from the trail in Slovakia, these are secluded places, not contaminated with the tourist plague. You won't see too many tourists there, and there aren't many guided tours available. Unless, of course, they are not aimed at exploring places off the trail in Slovakia. Contrary to appearances, although Slovakia is highly appreciated by tourists, you can easily find places there that are not heavily crowded by them. You will definitely visit Žilina and Banska Bystrica . Both are treated by most people as a passing point during a longer route. However, both cities have a nice old town, perfect for a walk. You can also count on an intimate atmosphere in Nitra , where you will find an impressive castle.
