Halfway between Presov and Poprad , the Spišský hrad ( Spišský hrad) rises on a hill with a rock at a height of 634 m above sea level. It is considered to be one of the largest structures of this type in all of Central Europe. It covers an area of over 4 ha ! The Spiš Castle impresses from every angle. Starting from the very location, which allows you to admire a truly extensive panorama not only of the Spiš Basin or the surrounding mountains, and ending with the architecture of the building.

Of course, the stronghold is open to visitors, and its exploration is a kind of adventure. There is a Spiš Museum in the castle with an exhibition devoted to the building itself and medieval weapons. And although the stronghold is in ruins, a walk among its walls will allow you to fully appreciate its enormity and the scale of the 12th-century builders. Finally, it is worth adding that the Spiš Castle has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List .
For whom?
A visit to the Spiš Castle is an ideal proposition for families with children. Exploring this huge stronghold will appeal to everyone, regardless of age. Visit the Spiš Castle also when you are a fan of medieval buildings.
