Little Fatra
Autorka, Travelbay
It is not without reason that Mala Fatra is considered one of the most picturesque mountain ranges in Slovakia. This is one of the reasons why a national park was established on its territory. Its name can be a bit confusing. Because Mala Fatra is not small or low at all. Interestingly, its highest peak, Krivan (1709 m), is over 100 m higher than Ostredok, the highest peak of Velka Fatra. Mala Fatra is often referred to as the Tatras in miniature . And there is a lot of truth in this statement. You will find both rocky ridges and green, extensive meadows. Besides, ravines await you here.

One of the showpieces of Mala Fatra are Janosikowe Diery , deep valleys where the trails run along streams and waterfalls, along ladders and stairs, a bit like the Slovak Paradise. Of course, these are not the only marked routes within Mala Fatra. There are plenty of trails there. In winter, however, fans of skiing will find ski resorts here, the largest of which are Vratna and Martinske Holes .
For whom?
In summer, the Mala Fatra range is the perfect destination if you like hiking . Thanks to the well-developed infrastructure and numerous routes, both experienced mountain hikers and weekend hikers will find suitable routes here. In winter, the ski resorts located within Mala Fatra will surely bring joy to lovers of skating on one or two boards.
