You will definitely know Orawskie Podzamcze if you were going from Rabka Zdrój or Korbielów towards Dolny Kubin and Rużomberok. Towering over the area, situated on a 112-meter high rock , the Orava Castle is one of the most characteristic places in northern Slovakia. The first mentions of it come from the 13th century.

Currently, it consists of three renovated complexes of medieval-renaissance buildings. In addition, it is interesting that the oldest part of the castle is located at the very top of the rock, and the newer parts were built below. Currently, it houses the exhibits of the Orava Museum , which show the history of the entire region. You will see an archeological, ethnographic, natural and historical exhibition here. In addition to the exhibits, the originally preserved interiors with historic equipment deserve attention. The chapel from 1752 is the most beautiful. When deciding to visit the castle, you must remember that you will have a lot of stairs to climb, and the entire visit will take about 2 hours. For the views - it's worth it !
