Off the trail in Italy

A long list of the top places to see in Italy, often obscures gems for which there is not enough space in the guidebooks. It is a pity, because Italy, apart from the tourist trail, is no less interesting. To find out about it, just visit the mysterious, abandoned town of Balestrino or the Park of Monsters in Bomarzo , with sculptures carved in stone that chill the blood in the veins. This does not mean, however, that the entire lesser-known face of Italy has such a terrible character. There are also charming towns behind it, which cause unwavering admiration among tourists. Their examples are the crisscrossed medieval streets of Ferrara , shrouded in clouds, Erice and Orvieto with a beautiful cathedral. Natural gems, such as the unappreciated Gargano peninsula, are also effectively hidden from the eyes of tourists, with its beauty due to phenomenal beaches and coves.
