Ferrara is located halfway between Padua and Bologna . Usually tourists skip it, focusing on much more famous cities and attractions of Italy. However, Ferrara should be included in your Italian plans. Why? Because it has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List as the "City of the Renaissance" .

Together with it, the protection of the Po delta to the east is included. Ferrara undoubtedly impresses with its consistent, Renaissance architecture. The most important monuments include the Este Castle , surrounded by an imposing moat, as well as the cathedral and the town hall. Of course, these are not all the attractions that await you there. Ferrara also has nice parks where you can relax surrounded by well-kept green spaces.

For whom?

A trip to Ferrara will be an interesting proposition if you like to explore history . You will have many opportunities to do so in the city. Not only when viewing monuments, but also during visits to museums. Ferrara is a real treat for enthusiasts of Renaissance architecture and people looking for places off the main tourist routes.

Hotel Europa

Hotel Europa is the quintessence of perfect accommodation. It is located in a historic, elegant palace in the center of Ferrara. My wife and I spent two nights there and we were enchanted. Both in terms of decor, atmosphere and quality of service. Delicious breakfasts. Everything is tip top!

Hotel Carlton

I decided to stay at the Carlton Hotel because it is located in the very center of the city. All monuments are close to it. The hotel offers nice, clean and quite designer interiors. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was not a cubicle. Breakfasts could be more varied.

Horti Della Fasanara

If you are looking for closeness to nature, then accommodation in Horti Della Fasanara will be the perfect option for you. It is a restored, historic villa, surrounded by a huge park. Even though the center of Ferrara is close, you don't feel it there at all. I felt like I was in the countryside. The room was wonderful - bright, large and tastefully decorated. The price, which was not too high considering the conditions, included an excellent breakfast.

Piazza Nova Guest House

My friends and I stayed at this quite nice guesthouse. To the center, walk, about 10-15 minutes. The apartment was large and fully equipped (the most necessary appliances and gadgets). A plus for a nice patio that we could also use. Overall a plus!
