East of Trapani, on a picturesque hill, lies the town of Erice . Although small, it is one of the most surprising places in all of Sicily . And not only because of the location, which guarantees unforgettable views of the interior of the island, as well as its coast and the sea. Erice can boast of coherent, stone, medieval buildings .

Narrow, cobbled streets meander between the buildings, allowing you to see the everyday life of the residents. One of the most important attractions of Erice is the castle - Castello di Venere , built on the site of the ancient temple of Venus. In addition to that, you will find the lovely Church of St. Ursula and several characteristic gates leading within the city walls. In addition, while walking around Erice, you will reach numerous viewpoints that will allow you to see the town from different perspectives.

For whom?

Without a doubt, Erice will be an interesting proposition for fans of the Middle Ages. During your visit to the town, you will travel in time. Mainly due to the well-preserved architecture, incl. from the 12th century. You will also like Erice if you like walking and sweeping views.

Sicily island

Due to its size, we have divided Sicily into several smaller parts. You will find descriptions of each of them when you visit Mount Etna , Caltabellotta , Taormina , Cefalu , Monreale , Palermo , San Vito .

Resort Venere di Erice Hotel & Spa

My wife and I did not regret that we decided to stay outside Trapani, a bit further into Sicily. This resort is absolutely perfect. And the views you can admire from there are simply magical. You can see the sea and the mountains. It is quite a modern facility with a well-located outdoor swimming pool. The price was not outrageous, and it also included a very tasty breakfast.

Hotel Edelweiss

The name Edelweiss is not associated with Sicily, but with Germany or Austria. But this hotel is located in the center of amazing Erice. There was no end to our delights. The hotel itself is quite intimate and offers simple but very comfortable conditions. The price was affordable. The service was very nice, as was everyone else in the town.

Il Carmine Dimora Storica

I must admit that this was one of the more unusual accommodations during my stay in Sicily. Mainly because it occupies the interior of a former monastery. First-class atmosphere! Of course, the rooms do not have the standard of a monastic cell. They are perfectly adapted to hotel standards. Importantly, the equipment also included an electric kettle and other useful items. The breakfasts were also delicious.

Bella Vista b&b

Bella Vista is a very nice guesthouse where I spent one night during my visit to Erica. Its location deserves praise. From the terrace you could admire the beautiful panorama of the town. Even in the peak summer season it wasn't crowded. The conditions were really good and the host was very nice.
