Mount Etna (3,326 meters above sea level) is undoubtedly one of the most famous and recognizable tourist attractions in Sicily . It is the highest European volcano still active . It evokes both admiration and terror. Because everyone knows what Etna is capable of. Its eruptions have put the inhabitants of the villages at its foot to the test more than once. However, when Etna does not attack with rivers of lava then it becomes an important excursion destination.

At an altitude of over 1,900 m above sea level, on the southern side of the volcano, you can reach the road, on which buses also run from Catania. From there, the trails leading to Mount Etna begin, and there is also the Funivia Dell'Etna cable car lower station, which takes you to a height of 2504 m above sea level. You can only enter the top of the volcano with a guide. But there is a huge area below it to the public, where you can visit the smaller craters on your own. When snow covers Mount Etna, skiers flock to its slopes. There are two ski resorts operating here (North - 10 km of slopes and South - 6 km of slopes). A visit to Mount Etna will be an unforgettable experience, mainly because of the amazing views.
