The hometown of the dictator Enver Hoxha , or Gjirokaster, is next to Berat and Tirana one of the most interesting and beautiful places in Albania. Its growing popularity is also influenced by the fact that in 2005 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. The biggest advantage of Gjirokastra is the old town situated on the hillside, built up with traditional houses, the roofs of which are covered with silvery slate. It owes them the term city of silver roofs. Interesting monuments, beautiful views and the opportunity to sink into the history of this small country await tourists here.

Hotel Kodra

While in Gjirokastra, I wanted to fully immerse myself in its history. That's why I decided to stay overnight at the Kodra Hotel. Not only because it is one of the most popular hotels in this city. But mainly because of its architecture, which refers to the city's rich past. I spent long hours in the restaurant located on the hotel's roof, which offers a beautiful view of the castle and the old town. The rooms are nice and combine modern design with traditional Albanian design.

Stone City Hostel

I spent one night in Gjirokaster. Due to the price, I chose Stone City Hostel. It offers both private rooms and beds in shared dormitories. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The past meets the present here, creating a really nice combination. The price of the stay includes breakfast.

Hotel Kalemi 2

Hotel Kalemi 2 is one of the nicest hotels in Gjirokastra. If you want to feel like the former, prominent inhabitants of the city, be sure to choose accommodation there. The rooms allow you to travel back in time, as they all present traditional architecture and interior design. Beautifully decorated ceilings, wooden stucco, amazing furniture. All this makes your stay at Kalemi 2 unforgettable. Additionally, a relatively low price, delicious meals and amazing views from the windows.
