Isla de la Plata is a small island located roughly opposite the town of Puerto Cayo on the Ecuadorian coast. Referred to as the Little Galapagos or the Galapagos for the Poor , it is a popular destination for day trips from Puerto Lopez. After an hour's cruise, you will find yourself on the island.

It is home to a huge population of blue-footed gannets . This is one of the reasons why Isla de la Plata is included in the reserve and is not inhabited. In addition to the opportunity to admire the birds, you will also be able to see the whales that circulate in its close vicinity. Isla de la Plata also offers beautiful beaches and a pleasant hiking area.
For whom?
Visit Isla de la Plata if you are a nature fan and… cannot afford a visit to the Galapagos. A trip to this island will be cheaper, and there are plenty of natural attractions waiting for you there, for example in the form of these gannets. Isla de la Plata is also an ideal place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of cities and resorts.
