Isla de la Plata

Isla de la Plata is a small island located roughly opposite the town of Puerto Cayo on the Ecuadorian coast. Referred to as the Little Galapagos or the Galapagos for the Poor , it is a popular destination for day trips from Puerto Lopez. After an hour's cruise, you will find yourself on the island.

It is home to a huge population of blue-footed gannets . This is one of the reasons why Isla de la Plata is included in the reserve and is not inhabited.
