Cuenca

Cuenca is an extremely interesting city, the third largest in Ecuador . It has very interesting buildings, with cobbled streets and all kinds of churches and chapels. Walking around the city you get the impression that there is literally a church or a plaza on every corner. Personally, I think that this is the second most beautiful colonial city in Ecuador (after the capital Quito). But don't mention it to the townspeople, they will murder you for such talk. The biggest monument in the city is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción). You can see it from anywhere in the city. Even with your back to her.
