Cotopaxi

Cotopaxi is one of the most famous Ecuadorian peaks. Under this name there is a volcano rising to a height of 5897 m above sea level , which makes it the second, highest hill in Ecuador. It has an almost perfect conical shape that is reminiscent of Fuji in Japan. Cotopaxi is under protection within the national park (Parque Nacional Cotopaxi). It is a popular target among people practicing various sports.

Of course, climbers and fans of trekking are eager to come there. Reaching the top is not for everyone, but the hike to Lake Limpiopungo or the Jose Ribas shelter is already within the reach of almost most people. Bicycle and horse riding enthusiasts also come to Cotopaxi. It is also a good idea to rent a four-wheel drive car to get to know the slightly less popular corners of the park.
