Chimborazo volcano is the highest peak in Ecuador, 6,268.2 m above sea level. It is also the closest to the sun… a point on our globe. If you were to measure the height of Chimborazo from the center of the earth, it would turn out to be the highest mountain in the world. The volcano is surrounded by a nature reserve of 60,000 hectares.

Chimborazo is a popular trekking destination . It is not a technically difficult mountain, but due to its height it requires proper condition and previous acclimatization. Therefore, if you don't feel adventurous or don't have enough time, you may want to consider a shorter trip. For example, to Refugio Edward Whymper , a shelter named after the first conqueror of this summit. You will also find picturesque lagoons in its vicinity.
For whom?
Chimborazo is undoubtedly a place that will appeal to all those who like a bit more ambitious trekking . You can choose to climb the summit or hike to lower-level attractions such as lagoons and shelters.
