Bran

Less than 30 km south-west of Brasov is the small town of Bran . Probably not many people would have visited it, if not for the castle there. This building looks as if someone built it not so long ago. Nothing could be more wrong!

The castle was built in the 14th century , and it gained its popularity thanks to the stories that Vlad the Impaler lived there , who was the prototype of Count Dracula . And although he was supposed to stay in the stronghold for only a few days, the legend of him became an element promoting Bran and attracting huge numbers of tourists. Yes, the village is quite picturesque, but the crowds and terribly expensive entrance tickets to the castle can be a bit put off.
For whom?
If you are not afraid of crowds and you like a bit kitschy places , then Bran will surely appeal to you. Otherwise, rather avoid it. If you are fascinated by the story of Dracula, unfortunately you will not get to know her here. Because there is not even a small exhibition devoted to him in the castle. Peles Castle is (in our opinion) much more magnificent.
