Fatima is the most important Marian shrine in Portugal, and one of the largest and most important in all of Europe. It was founded in a place where Our Lady appeared to three children - Jacinta, Lucia and Franciszek. It happened in 1917. Pretty soon the church recognized the apparitions as real. During them, Mary was to convey three secrets, now called the Secrets of Fatima.

For years, this Portuguese shrine has been visited by the faithful from all over the world. Most often on the anniversary of the apparitions, i.e. May 13 and October 13. Fatima is also worth visiting when it comes to tourism. You will be able to visit, among others Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Basilica of the Holy Trinity , which is the fourth and largest church in the world. Also visit the Chapel of the Apparitions. It is located in the place where Our Lady appeared to three young shepherds. When visiting Fatima, you can also see numerous references to John Paul II, as well as exhibitions and museums related to the Fatima miracle. The city is well prepared to welcome tourists and pilgrims. There are plenty of hotels and restaurants here. In addition, thanks to the fact that Fatima is located in the central part of the country, you can easily reach it from other, larger cities, such as Porto or Lisbon .

For whom?

Undoubtedly, Fatima is an important pilgrimage destination . So, if you are a believer, a visit to this shrine should be a must-see for your stay in Portugal. A visit to Fatima can also be an intriguing experience if you simply enjoy visiting places of worship and observing the traditions associated with them.

Hotel Aleluia

The biggest advantage of the hotel is its location - right next to the sanctuary. We even had a view of the basilica from the balcony. The stay was not expensive and the room was of a good standard. It is worth buying breakfast. Another big advantage is private underground parking included in the room price.

Hotel Fatima

A good class hotel located right next to the main square in Fatima. The walk to the chapel of apparitions took us only a few minutes. There are no additional amenities here, as is usually the case in 4* hotels, but for a short stay it was a very good solution for me. The room was comfortable and the bed comfortable. We really liked the breakfasts, although they could serve better coffee.

Consolata Hotel

Consolata Hotel is a modern facility located in the center of Fatima. The main sanctuary is close. The price for the accommodation was very good considering the conditions. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were quite expensive, but it was worth paying extra for them.

Hotel Santa Isabel

A small hotel located right next to the sanctuary of Fatima. The only thing we didn't pay attention to when booking was the lack of parking. But fortunately, even in July there was no problem finding a place on the street next door. Apart from that, everything was very fine. The room is small, but very well equipped. A very good and quite inexpensive option for two nights.

Domus Pacis Fatima Hotel

A hotel with a religious character. Classic interiors are decorated with numerous paintings and figures that emphasize the character of the place. Pilgrims can use the intimate prayer room and chapel. It takes a few minutes to walk to the main sanctuary. I recommend a pilgrimage to this holy place to everyone and I recommend this hotel for an overnight stay.
