Itaipu

At first glance, Itaipu may seem like quite an unobvious attraction to see in both Paraguay and South America. Because it is… a gigantic dam built on the Parana River . Paraguay shares it with Brazil. It is also where the second largest hydropower plant in the world is located. 20 turbines can generate 14,000 megawatts of electricity.

The main dam is 196 meters high and consists of large concrete segments. There is a storage reservoir to the north of it. It is 160 km long . Unfortunately, its creation destroyed the amazing Guaira Falls located here. Fortunately, however, other waterfalls in this area can still be seen. South of Itaipu you will find Iguazu . Therefore, when planning a visit to one attraction, you can also plan a visit to the other immediately. The town of Ciudad del Este is close to Itaipu. In itself, it may not be the most beautiful. However, it is worth taking a look here to take a look at the local market, which is one of a kind.
For whom?
If you are looking for extraordinary and not necessarily hackneyed attractions , a visit to the Itaipu area will be a really good choice. In addition, when planning a visit to the Iguazu Falls, you can also find time to visit the dam.
