Gibraltar is situated at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, but officially it is an overseas territory dependent on Great Britain. Although its area is 6.5 square kilometers , you will find many tourist attractions here. The largest of them is the famous Rock of Gibraltar , which stands out from the ocean to a height of almost 430 meters. In addition to natural attractions, an interesting mixture of typically Spanish and British climates awaits you here.

Gibraltar

Gibraltar, Spain - © Brate

As an autonomous region, it has its own currency, the Gibraltar Pound. Moreover, she is subordinate to the British Queen. In the streets you will see famous English red telephone boxes and classic English pubs. For centuries, it has also been a meeting point of different cultures . As a result, in a small area there are both Anglican and Catholic churches, as well as a mosque or a synagogue.

For whom?

If you enjoy learning about different cultures , then a stay in Gibraltar will be an interesting experience for you. History enthusiasts will also find many interesting facts here, such as tunnels made during the Second World War. Lovers of nature and beautiful views will surely appreciate a trip to the Rock of Gibraltar. On the other side of the Strait, visit Ceuta

Here are the accommodations that we can recommend with a clear conscience. We only recommend hotels that we have visited ourselves.

Rock Hotel

We chose this hotel because we were more interested in sightseeing than sunbathing. And it was a bull's eye, because we could easily leave the car and walk everywhere. Close to the gondola lift and close to the center. The hotel building itself is amazing and well kept. Brilliant breakfasts and great pool. I highly recommend!

Sunborn Gibraltar

A fantastic place to stay in Gibraltar. At the beginning, we were concerned because ships converted into hotels are sometimes not fully functional. Fortunately, everything here was built to be a proper hotel, but on the water. The price is high, but you can immediately see what you are paying for. All services and the general standard are at a very good level, plus the ideal location and views.

The Caleta Hotel Health, Beauty & Conference Centre

We wanted to spend more than one day in Gibraltar and also spend some time on the beach, which is why we chose Hotel Caleta. This side of the peninsula is quiet and peaceful, with a beautiful beach right next door. To explore, we used public transport, which has a stop here and getting to the main center took about 15 minutes. Perfect place for a longer stay. You can easily combine relaxation with visiting the main attractions.

The Eliott Hotel

We knew right away that Gibraltar was small, but we still wanted a hotel that was located right in the center. Eliott was perfect! There are plenty of pubs, shops and an interesting British-Spanish atmosphere around. After a whole day of sightseeing, the swimming pool on the roof of the building was a great place. Breakfasts were very good and served on the eighth floor with a brilliant view.

Luxe Holiday Rentals

The apartment, its equipment and the swimming pool on the roof made a huge impression on us. Plus great views and close to everything. This is not a hotel, so there is no food, but there are plenty of places to eat in the marina and the surrounding area. We had a great time here and the only thing we regretted was that we couldn't stay longer.
