Subotica is the first, larger city in Serbia, which you come across after entering this country from Hungary . In its close vicinity there is the Tompa border crossing, which is usually much less crowded than the one located on the motorway. Subotica is not a huge metropolis, but anyway it is the second largest city of Vojvodina (the first place is taken by Novi Sad ).

Seekers of the Balkans will rather feel uncomfortable with her. Subotica has a very Austro-Hungarian atmosphere , which is largely due to the architecture of the buildings located in its center. The city can be an ideal stopover on your way south . A walk around Subotica, combined with a visit to Palić, will allow you to stretch your bones and gain strength before continuing your journey.

For whom?

You will like Subotica especially when you like short city breaks and appreciate Art Nouveau architecture . If you are traveling with a child / kids , then be sure to visit not only Subotica, but also Palić , which is its specific suburbs. There you will find the most beautiful zoo in the Balkans, a beautiful park and a lake with a nice shore.

Apartments Pia

If you want to stay overnight in the very center of Subotica, Pia Apartments will be a good choice. You will literally be three steps away from the town hall or Korzo. The conditions for this money are phenomenal! Very high standard, new furniture. Everything is tastefully decorated. A good place to stay overnight, both for transit and for a longer stay.

Hotel Galleria

Hotel Galleria is probably the largest hotel in Subotica. It is easy to recognize due to its modern shape. My wife and I spent two nights there and were very pleased. The room had everything you need. The breakfasts were really diverse and there was something tasty for everyone. Moreover, we were right in the center.

3 Platana

The whole family stayed overnight in the 3 Platana guesthouse in Palić. We would love to come back there again, as we were completely enchanted by the place. It is located in the very center of the town, so we were quite close to the park or the zoo. The guesthouse offers nice rooms, you can leave your car on the property. The owner was very nice and told us a lot about the area.

Vila Vesna

We found Vili Vesna in Palić by accident, mainly because it was the cheapest place in this location. It turned out to be a bull's-eye. A brand new guesthouse, surrounded by old trees, with a pleasant garden. The rooms were clean, tidy and spacious. The owner is very nice. There is parking for 4 cars within the property. About a 30-minute walk to the zoo.
