Djavolja Varos , or the City of the Devil, is a work of mother nature. Under this rather peculiar name, there are sandstone formations in the shape of columns or cones. From a distance, they resemble termite mounds. Very similar rocks are located in Bulgaria, in Melnik , where they are referred to as the Melnik Pyramids.

More than 200 rock formations can be seen in Djavolja Varos. According to a local legend, an evil witch turned into stone wedding guests who were not to fulfill her promise. Undoubtedly, this place is one of the most popular attractions in southern Serbia. Indeed, Djavolja Varos is extremely photogenic. Hence, just because of the visual aspect, it is worth visiting them.

For whom?

If you want to include the most important attractions during your stay in Serbia , be sure to visit Djavolja Varos. If you are also looking for photographic inspiration, you will definitely find a lot of them there!

Vila Dikic

If you are looking for accommodation closest to Djavolja Varos, then Vila Dikic will be a good choice. However, I will immediately add that you will not find any luxuries there. The guesthouse is simply but neatly furnished. Its greatest advantage is its scenic location. You can admire the surrounding hills from the windows. Additionally, the price is very low.

Motel Stara Vrba

On the way back from Devil's Town, we stopped for the night in Kuršumlija, at the Stara Vrba Motel. The name motel itself gives me conflicting emotions, but in this case the stay was very successful. There is an excellent restaurant on site. I recommend it to absolutely everyone. The room was nice, I had no reason to complain.

Konak Garavi Sokak

Together with my wife and son, we stayed overnight in Konak Garavi Sokak. We recommend this place for one overnight stay. Conditions were good, no fireworks. But the hosts are very nice. They sat, talked to us, drank wine. One of the advantages of the guesthouse is its location - right next to the center of Kuršumlija.

Green Apartments

Some distance from Djavolja Varos and the town of Kuršumlija there is the village of Belo Polje. I had the opportunity to stay overnight there at Green Apartments. It's a world-class name, but you can actually feel like you're in a real Serbian village. Great atmosphere, idyllic views. The apartment itself was cozy. The two nights spent there were absolutely problem-free
