Turda

Turda is an important point on the map of Romania. Because it is here that hide two very famous attractions of this country. The first is the Salina Turda salt mine, which is one of the oldest and largest mines of this type in Europe. Salt was harvested here already during the Roman Empire, and mining was completed in 1932. Since 1992, the mine has been open to tourists.

Today you can admire the well-preserved workings and mining machines, but the place is also known for its amazing amusement park, which is located in the huge main chamber of the mine. There is a ferris wheel, a mini golf course, an underground lake for boating, an amphitheater and much more. Another important attraction of this region is the Turda gorge, which is located a few kilometers outside the city limits. A specially prepared tourist trail leads along the river along the bottom of the impressive gorge. The vertical rocks that surround it are almost 300 meters high in some places! There are also many caves in the gorge.

If you travel with children , then both attractions of Turda, i.e. the salt mine and the gorge, will appeal to everyone, regardless of age. Fans of all amusement parks must visit one of the most interesting facilities of this type, which is located at the bottom of a huge chamber, many meters underground. Lovers of nature and beautiful landscapes will surely enjoy a stroll along the impressive Turda gorge.
