Targu Mures is a historic city with a truly rich history. Thanks to this, you will find many interesting buildings from different periods. Already in the Middle Ages, Targu Mures was an important cultural and scientific center. In 1470, it obtained the status of a royal city. Due to numerous invasions, it was heavily fortified over the centuries. The mighty citadel can be admired here to this day.

Seven impressive towers and most of the defensive walls have been preserved, which now house the Museum of History and Archeology. There is also a 14th-century Reformed church here. One of the biggest attractions of the city is also the Rose Square , which is surrounded by wonderful monuments. Here you will see one of the most representative buildings of Targu Mures, the Art Nouveau Palace of Culture, whose facades are decorated with mosaics. Also worth seeing is the Mures County Council building with the Prefectural Tower, the Ascension Cathedral, the Church of St. John the Baptist and the building of the National Theater.

For whom?

If you value cities rich in history with many interesting sights, then Targu Mures is a must visit. Fans of defensive structures will appreciate the well-preserved citadel in the city center. History enthusiasts will be interested in the local museums, such as ethnographic and historical.

Hotel Arena

A good hotel for a transit stay. It is located next to the main road, easy to get to and parking is easy. We reached the center and monuments on a leisurely 15-minute walk. The hotel is advertised on booking as 4*, but for me it is a maximum of 3*. But at least it was cheap. The room itself is large and comfortable. You can sleep peacefully and move on the next day.

If someone comes to Targu Mures as a tourist, like us, this is the perfect option. All the biggest attractions are right next door. In the evening, you can also easily go to a nice pub nearby. The hotel offers a good standard and does not cost a fortune. Parking costs extra, but fortunately not much. The biggest minus for me was the so-so breakfast, but overall we were satisfied.

Plaza V Executive Hotel

A good, modern hotel that is ideally located in the center and next to the main monuments. The room was quite dark, but very interestingly decorated and very comfortable. From the window we had a great view of the old town. The service was very nice and professional, and the breakfast was delicious. It definitely wasn't the cheapest option around, but it was worth the money spent.

A hotel called a guesthouse... A bit strange, but at least the rest of the name is correct, because it is located in the center. We were close to Rose Square and interesting monuments. There are no luxuries here, but the conditions are very good. Large room, comfortable bed, and peace and quiet at night. Very nice service. A good option at a reasonable price.

Pensiunea Ana Maria

Great and very atmospheric guesthouse! Truly Transylvanian interior design. We were welcomed and hosted by a very nice hostess, who was happy to tell us what interesting things to see and where to go to eat well. The room was well decorated, but also comfortable. You park your car in the garage opposite the building. In addition to all this, delicious breakfasts made from local specialties. I highly recommend it, because the place is clearly run with passion!
