The Sturdz family, who owned the building, was known for collecting rare and old books. She has created a library here rich in 60,000 unique European and Romanian works. Unfortunately, during World War II, the mansion was taken over by the Russian military and most of the impressive collection was lost. The interiors of the palace were largely destroyed and stolen. It was not until 2004 that the building was partially restored and today it is open to visitors. The Miclauseni Monastery , which dates back to 1782, is also located in the vast area around, among ancient trees.
