Oradea is one of the largest and better developed cities in modern Romania. Its rich history dates back to the 11th century. Over the next centuries, the city was constantly developing and was often mentioned as one of the most important centers in the then Hungary. In the 18th century, its center was completely rebuilt. There were many baroque and art nouveau buildings that you can admire here today.

Despite the long history of Hungarian rule, the city was incorporated into Romania after World War II. However, strong Hungarian influence is still visible here. One of the most important monuments of Oradea is the 18th-century basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary , which is the largest baroque cathedral in the country. From here, you can walk to the very center of the city along the Strada Republici street, along which there are many richly decorated, historic buildings. As a result, it is considered one of the most beautiful streets in Transylvania. It is also worth seeing the 20th-century palaces of Apollo and Moskowitz Miks, as well as the monumental building of the town hall.

For whom?

If you value cities with classical architecture , you must visit Oradea and its very well-preserved center. Fans of Transylvania can walk here along the atmospheric Strada Republici street, which is considered by many to be the most beautiful in the entire region. History enthusiasts will find many interesting museums here, and influences referring to the long reign of Hungarians in this area.

Hotel Maxim

Hotel Maxim convinced us with its location in the very center of the city. We were only a few steps away from the main promenade. The room was of a pretty good standard and comfortable. A very good option was a large swimming pool and a garden where you could relax a bit. Good breakfasts and nice service. What is worth noting is that the underground parking lot is tight, so if someone goes with a large car, it may have a problem.

DoubleTree by Hilton Oradea

Hilton, as usual, maintains a very good standard. The hotel is located a bit away from the center, but you can easily walk there in a few minutes by walking along the river. The advantage is a quiet and peaceful area, and nice views of both the city and the river. High-level service, private parking included in the price. Accommodation is expensive, but there is nothing to complain about.

Ramada by Wyndham Oradea

Very good hotel located in the center of Oradea. You had to walk a bit to get to the main promenade, but there are many interesting buildings and places in the area. The room was very comfortable and equipped with everything needed. We recommend taking a look at the terrace upstairs, where there are nice views of the city. Very nice service.

Aparthotel ARIA Prestige Boutique

Very good apartments in the very center of the city. Modern decor and full equipment, including a kitchen and even a washing machine. A great option when traveling with kids. Very good standard and no problems with check-in. A very good place to stay, especially comparing the prices with normal hotels.

Ivana Apart Hotel

The apartments are ideally located in the heart of the old town and on the main pedestrian street. This means you have to leave your car down the street, but the price includes private parking, so if you don't have to take any huge suitcases, it's not a problem. The room was decorated stylishly and modern. The equipment is obviously new and everything is thoroughly cleaned. The best thing is that it is close to everything and in the evening we could also go out to one of the pubs nearby.
