The Apuseni Mountains , known as the Western Romanian Mountains , extend a short distance from Cluj-Napoca . The highest peak of the range is Curcubăta Mare rising at 1,847 m above sea level . At first glance, they appear to be ordinary hills, with vast meadows where herds of sheep graze.

However, the Apuseni are much more diverse. Thanks to the karst phenomena occurring there , you can find 400 caves, many deep valleys and ravines in their area. The mountains are protected as part of the nature park. You will be able to get to know Apuseni while hiking along numerous hiking trails. During trekking, you can count on unforgettable views and no crowds.

For whom?

If you are fascinated by geology and appreciate wild , beautiful nature , then you must visit the Apuseni Mountains. You will also like this band if you like to spend time actively . The mountains are perfect for both longer and more demanding trekkings, as well as simpler, shorter hikes.

Denisa’s Lodge

Accommodation with the most beautiful view of the Apuseni Mountains? It's definitely Denisa's Lodge. We spent two nights there and were delighted. Homely, warm atmosphere. Stunning landscapes. Very nice owners. To sum up – a perfect stay.

Pensiunea Alexolar

Alexolar Guesthouse is located practically in the center of the Apuseni Mountains. I was there in spring and the entire area was lush green and full of flowers. Views – first class. The room in the guesthouse was quite spacious. There are no great luxuries, but when you are in the mountains you don't think about them. But everything is finished in wood, which makes it incredibly cozy there. I recommend!

Cabana MonteRio

Cabana MoneRio offers the opportunity to stay overnight in the heart of the Apuseni Mountains. Apart from the location, the biggest advantage of this place are its hosts. Very nice and open people. Thanks to them, I could try many local dishes. The guesthouse itself offers very good conditions. Peace and quiet, 100% relaxation.
