Hamburg is also the largest German port, although it is actually 120 kilometers away from the sea. The historic part of the city was almost completely destroyed during World War II. Some of the buildings were rebuilt and restored, mixing modern architectural styles with brick gothic, thanks to which Hamburg gained its unique style and charm.
