First of all, <strong>a ferry</strong> takes passengers and vehicles from Split. The second option, but only for passengers, is <strong>a catamaran</strong> running on the Vis - Hvar - Mlina - Split route.</p>

When to visit Vis?

<p>The island of Vis offers <strong>a lot of really nice beaches</strong> . However, <strong>Stiniva beach</strong> is the leader among them. It is surrounded by rock <strong>cliffs</strong> that partially separate it from the open sea. The beach is rocky. To reach it, you need to cross a narrow mountain path. It is located in a pleasant, small bay. Beaches on Vis

<p>The island of Vis <strong>does not have many attractions</strong> , such as museums or monuments. The biggest magnet attracting tourists to this area is the Blue Cave.</p><h3> Blue Cave </h3><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/chorwacja/vis/vis-chorwacja-blekitne-groty.jpeg?tr=n-hero" alt="Vis, Croatia" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Blue Cave, Vis, Croatia - © Brate</figcaption></figure><p> Although <strong>the Blue Cave</strong> is located on the islet of Bisevo, it is also one of the attractions of the island of Vis. It is located <strong>in Valun Bay</strong> , in the eastern part of the islet. It has two chambers that are approximately <strong>36 m long</strong> in total. It owes its name to the fact that sunlight enters its interior through an underwater opening. Thanks to this, the cave is illuminated <strong>with a blue glow</strong> . You can get there on boat trips organized from Komiza.</p><h3> Tito&#39;s Cave </h3><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/chorwacja/vis/vis-jaskinia-tito.jpeg?tr=n-hero" alt="Vis, Croatia" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Tito&#39;s Cave, Vis, Croatia - © Brate</figcaption></figure><p> On the slopes of Mount Hum on the island of Vis is <strong>Tito&#39;s Cave</strong> . Although this is not fully confirmed, it is generally assumed that Tito was there with his partisans. The trail to the cave leads from the village of Podšpilje.</p><h3> Fisheries Museum</h3><p> There is a small <strong>Fishermen&#39;s Museum</strong> in Komizy (Ribarski muzej, ul. Bucol 1). It presents the fishing traditions cultivated by local fishermen. Here you can see the tools they use, nets and a traditional boat from this island. Another advantage of the museum is that it is located <strong>inside a Venetian tower dating back to the 16th century.</strong></p>

Nature on Vis

<p>The island of Vis is also an interesting destination if you like to spend your time a bit more actively. First of all, its surroundings are <strong>a popular destination for diving trips</strong> . You will also find cycling and walking routes here.</p><h3> Diving </h3><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/chorwacja/vis/vis-nurkowanie.jpeg?tr=n-hero" alt="Vis, Croatia" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Vis, Croatia - © Brate</figcaption></figure><p> There <strong>are almost 30 diving destinations</strong> around the islands of Vis and Bisevo. There are tourist agencies on site that offer the possibility of renting equipment and going under the supervision of a guide to the underwater world of the Adriatic Sea. In the sea you can see, among others: <strong>the wreck of a B-24 bomber</strong> that crashed in 1944; <strong>wrecks of 7 ships</strong> ; caves.</p><h3> Bicycle routes</h3><p> The island of Vis <strong>is perfect for cycling trips</strong> . Most bicycle routes and cyclists can be found <strong>in the town of Vis and its surroundings</strong> . However, since there is not much car traffic on the island, you will be able to easily explore the entire island using the main roads.</p><h3> Hiking routes</h3><p> The most popular hiking destination is <strong>the highest peak</strong> of the Island of Vis, <strong>Hum</strong> (587 m above sea level). There are <strong>trails leading there from both Komiza and the village of Podšpilje</strong> . At the top of the hill there is a small <strong>stone chapel of St. Spirit</strong> . From Hum there is a pleasant panorama of the island and its surroundings.</p>

Actively on Vis

<p><strong>The island of Vis</strong> is located west of <a href="https://brate.com/europe/croatia/wyspa-hvar/">Hvar</a> and <a href="https://brate.com/europe/croatia/korcula/">Korcula</a> . And although it is slightly less popular than its two larger neighbors, it is still worth visiting. Most tourists decide to visit it because of the <strong>amazing Blue Cave</strong> . It is not situated on the island of Vis, but on the nearby <strong>islet of Bisevo</strong> . It is a popular destination for boat trips or diving excursions. Vis also has <strong>quite an interesting history</strong> . It is here on the slopes of Mount Hum that the partisans led by Tito established their headquarters. My wife and I decided to stay overnight in Komizy. It was a bull&#39;s-eye. And the Provita guesthouse turned out to be an excellent choice. It is a very cozy and nice place. Its greatest advantage is the beautiful view from the roof terrace. Go there if you are traveling as a couple.
