Ciudad Bolivar

On the banks of the Orinoco River lies Ciudad Bolivar . This colonial city is chosen by many tourists as a base for national parks and attractions located in the southeast of Venezuela. It was founded in 1764 as San Tomás de la Nueva Guayana de la Angostura. In 1846 the name was changed in honor of the liberator of Venezuela - the famous Simon Bolívar.

Ciudad Bolivar has a pleasant, quite well-kept old town. It is worth taking a walk along the Paseo Orinoco promenade . It offers a beautiful view of the river. You will also find a lot of nice pubs to drop in for a drink, both during the day and in the evening. Also noteworthy are the botanical garden, the cathedral and the Museo de Arte Moderno Jesús Soto . Ciudad Bolivar, although small, allows you to spend your time in an interesting and intense way.
