In the northern part of Uruguay you will find the city of Tacuarembo. Next to Montevideo, it is one of the most important and significant points on the map of this South American country. It is the cradle of gaucho , that is cattle shepherds, Indians, writers, musicians and ... gold. The city is filled with art . Strolling through the streets of Tacuarembo, you will be able to admire around 150 works by local artists that create a kind of open-air gallery.

It is also worth visiting the Indian and Gaucho Museum, where you will be able to get to know the peoples living in these extremely picturesque areas a little better. Because Tacuarembo is not only the cultural cradle of Uruguay. It is also numerous places interesting in terms of sightseeing. Approx. 7 km north of the city is Ipora - a valued health resort established on the shores of an artificial lake. Also noteworthy is Valle Eden , a small town with the Carlos Gardel Museum - a singer and figure who has a huge impact on the tango culture.

For whom?

You should definitely drop by Tacuarembo if you are keenly interested in the history and culture of the countries you visit. Here you will be able to get to know Uruguay, its peoples and their traditions and customs. Tacuarembo is also an interesting destination for tango fans . It is here that Carlos Gardela was born - an artist whose repertoire focused on tangos.

Hotel Museo y Restaurant Fordt City

During my short visit to Tacuarembo I stayed at the Museo Hotel. This place is famous for its excellent restaurant, which I can also recommend with a clear conscience. The food there is delicious. There is also a small museum here. The hotel itself is also okay. The room was very large and quite reasonably equipped. I was very pleased.
Hotel De Campo La Cumparsita

Hotel De Campo La Cumparsita

Hotel De Campo La Cumparsita met my expectations. On the one hand, it is a modern facility, which, however, strongly remembers tradition. Stylish furniture and accessories give this place a unique atmosphere. There is also a nice garden with a swimming pool. Tasty and varied breakfasts.
Cabañas Sepé Iporá

Cabañas Sepé Iporá

I had the opportunity to stay outside the Tacuarembo area, in the town of Balneairo Ipora, where Cabanas Sepe Ipora are located. These are beautiful, small houses located on a tiny hill, surrounded by greenery. In addition to well-decorated interiors, guests also have an outdoor swimming pool at their disposal. A perfect place to relax.
La Araucana

La Araucana

La Araucana are small bungalows located north of the outskirts of Tacuarembo. I stayed here for one night but was very happy with my choice. The house was charming, pleasantly decorated. No big fireworks or oohs and aahs, but it was clean and comfortable. The price was very friendly too.
