The Colca Canyon ranks first or second (just behind Machu Picchu ) in any rankings of Peru's most popular tourist attractions. And it should come as no surprise to anyone. Because Colca is the deepest canyon in the world. It is over 100 km long, and its walls are even 3-4 km high. Interestingly, the canyon was first traversed in 1981 by ... Krakow canoeists from the "Bystrze" club.

This feat not only put them in the pages of history, but also put them in the Guinness Book of Records. As they were the first to reach many places in the canyon, they gave them Polish names. Hence, in Colca you can find, for example, waterfalls. John Paul II. Currently, the canyon is a popular destination for excursions, mainly on foot. And numerous viewpoints allow you to admire both the gorge of the Rio Colca River and condors soaring above it.
