The Kanuku Mountains are part of the Takutu-Upper Essequibo in southwestern Guyana. These names probably reveal a lot. In any case, they are all derived from the local Wapishan language. The name means "forest" and is a nod to the rich diversity of flora and fauna in the region of the Kanuku Mountains. This lowland forest is home to nearly 60 Guyana bird species and 150 mammal species. This makes it a paradise for nature lovers and animal lovers.
