Popayan can also be proud of the fact that there is ... a pyramid on its territory. El Morro del Tulcán was built in the pre-Columbian period, around 1600-500 BC. From a distance it looks inconspicuous, like a small green hill, but archaeological research has shown that high-class people from the local community were buried inside. Popayan is also an important academic center. Students make the city full of a bustling and relaxed atmosphere. Which also translates into a pretty pleasant nightlife.
For whom?
Popayan will be a good choice if you like sightseeing and appreciate colonial architecture. The city is not only numerous monuments, but also a large number of museums in which you can explore the history of the region. In addition, Popayan is a good destination for partygoers .
