Cano Cristales
Autor, Travelbay
The Cano Cristales river is a real miracle of nature and a phenomenon on a global scale. It is located in the Serranía de La Macarena National Park and until recently was completely inaccessible to tourists. For years, partisan militias operated in these areas, blocking access to the natural wonders located here.

Cano Cristales is often referred to as the "flowing rainbow" or the " river of five colors ". In the period from September to November (sometimes a bit earlier and a bit later), due to algae (Macarenia clavigera strain), the mosses covering the riverbed begin to turn bright red, yellow, green, blue and black. The effect is electrifying. And most importantly - this phenomenon is not observed anywhere else !
For whom?
Cano Cristales is quite an unobvious attraction . Because most of the time this river does not stand out with anything special. But for several months of the year it becomes an absolutely extraordinary place. At this time, it will also be a real treat for all people fascinated by nature photography.
