It is 600 to 670 km away from the mainland. The archipelago consists of the island of Robinson Crusoe (formerly known as Más a Tierra), Alejandro Selkirk (Más Afuera), Santa Clara and several smaller islands. The most convenient port from which you can get there is Valparaiso. The Juan Fernandez Archipelago has long been a favorite among pirates and corsairs. These paradise islands are now a dream destination, especially if you want to cut off the crowds. Importantly, the archipelago has been protected as a national park and as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve .
