Antofagasta
Autor, Travelbay
In the north of Chile, Antofagasta is located on the shores of the ocean . Until 1879, the city belonged to Bolivia. Surrounded by mountains, it has a rather industrial character. This is due to the fact that it has developed mainly thanks to the mining of silver and the export of copper and sulfur. Antofagasta also serves as a port.

Tourists usually ignore it in their Chilean plans. However, is it worth dropping by? It turns out that it is. Antofagasta can be a pretty good base for the Atacama Desert . In addition, the coast here is really varied and offers a large number of nice sandy beaches . The very atmosphere of Antofagasta is unique because it strongly refers to its mining traditions.
For whom?
If you are looking for places off the main tourist routes , then Antofagasta will be the perfect choice. The city is, of course, ready to welcome foreign visitors, but there are usually much fewer of them here than in other coastal cities. Antofagasta is also a good destination if you want to relax on empty beaches . Nature fans will also find some interesting places here.
