Ouro Preto
Autor, Travelbay
Ouro Preto , which translates as " black gold ", is situated among the picturesque mountains of Minas. The city was founded in the 17th century. It was then that gold deposits were discovered here, which attracted prospectors of precious metal, as well as traders and slaves to this part of Brazil. Ouro Preto began to develop rapidly. It was filled with wonderful architecture, modeled on the European one.

And here it is worth mentioning that in Ouro Preto you will see the largest concentration of baroque buildings in all of Brazil. For this reason, the city was included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List . Although gold mining has ceased over time, Ouro Preto has not lost its importance, and is now quite an interesting destination for a one or two-day trip. You will not only be enchanted by the wonderfully preserved urban buildings, but also the views that extend both from the city itself and its outskirts.
For whom?
Ouro Preto is a great choice if you like sightseeing and walking . Not only magnificent monuments await you here, but also numerous places from which you will be able to admire the vast panorama of both the city and the mountains.
