Many Bolivians consider the south of their country to be ... parochial. As a result, tourists visit it less often, believing that they will not find places worth their attention. Well, nothing could be more wrong. In the south there is, among others, Tarija . This city, although it is not a metropolis, can be a pretty good starting point to explore attractions such as: Potosi, where there was a silver mine, or Sucre, which is the constitutional capital of Bolivia.

Tarija, Bolivia - © Brate

Tarija itself is an important wine center of the country . On site, you will be able to take part in a tasting, e.g. by sitting in one of the charming streets of the old town and observing the everyday life of the inhabitants. There are also some interesting attractions in the city. It is worth seeing the amazing architecture of Castillo Azul Moises Navajas and Casa Dorada , known as the Golden House.

For whom?

If you are looking for places that are not on the top of the top lists , then Tarija will be a great proposition for you. Moreover, here you can count on a look at the non-commercial side of Bolivia. Here you will see a normal life. You will either not meet other tourists at all, or you will come across them sporadically.

Linda Casa Acogedora

We stayed at the Linda guesthouse by accident. But in the end, he was the right choice. It is a small facility with a homely, warm atmosphere. The hostess is a very nice, helpful and very positive person. Our room was decorated simply but tastefully. The guesthouse also has a pleasant garden. The neighbourhood is calm.

La Pasarela

We spent a nice and pleasant two days in La Pasarela. A place with an ecological flair, located a short distance from the center of Tarija. But you could get there by taxi for a few pennies. The guesthouse has a great location, guaranteeing nice views. There is also a garden with a swimming pool. You can taste local wine on site. We recommend!

Hotel Los Parrales

What views! It was worth staying there just for them. The place is quite luxurious - with a SPA, swimming pool, garden, etc. The conditions are excellent. You can visit a bar or a great restaurant. The service was very nice and professional. A beautiful panorama of the area from the room. Plus a comfortable bed and perfect cleanliness.

Hotel Mitru - Tarija

Hotel Mitru is located practically in the very center of Tarija. A place worth recommending because it is relatively cheap, the conditions are very good, and the breakfasts are really tasty. Neighborhood is quiet and calm. You can easily park your car on the street. The staff is helpful and always willing to advise what interesting things to do in the city or surrounding area.

Casa Blanca Hostel

Awesome hostel! Casa Blanca enchanted me with its atmosphere, interior design, openness of its employees and truly excellent conditions. He has a bit of an artistic flair, but not too intrusive. Every piece of equipment and decor has its place there. A great courtyard where you can mingle with other residents while lying in a hammock. Breakfast included.
