Sucre is the constitutional capital of Bolivia . There is some confusion on this subject, because the seat of government is ... La Paz. However, this does not change the fact that for Bolivians, Sucre is an important place related to their national identity. From the tourist point of view, the city is worth visiting because it is considered the most beautiful in the whole country.

The colonial, incredibly elegant old town of Sucre has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List ! A stroll through the narrow streets lined with whitewashed buildings, decorated with tiles and lovely wooden balconies is a pleasure in itself. You will also find several interesting museums that will bring you closer to the history and culture of not only this corner of Bolivia, but the whole country.

For whom?

Sucre is certainly much less popular than La Paz. But you will like this city if you prefer a bit more tranquil places , where it is easier to see typical local life. Sucre can also be a pleasant, not too strenuous sightseeing destination.

El Hotel de Su Merced

I highly recommend this hotel. First of all, it offers good value for money. It also has a convenient location allowing you to explore the city on foot. It has a pleasant courtyard and a roof terrace from where you can admire the surrounding area. Tasty breakfasts. Nice service. Nicely decorated room.

La Selenita

La Selenita guesthouse positively surprised me at every step. Its undoubted advantage is the hostess - Emily is a warm, nice person who is responsible for the homely and cozy atmosphere of this place. The guesthouse is located above the center and offers a beautiful view of the city. There is also a charming garden - a kind of green oasis.
Hotel Boutique La Posada

Hotel Boutique La Posada

The boutique hotel La Posada may not have been the cheapest option we had in Sucre, but it was worth the money spent. Beautifully decorated interiors. Our apartment was very large, bright, with a huge, comfortable double bed. It also has a great location - close to city attractions.
Hostal CasArte Takubamba

Hostal CasArte Takubamba

This hostal has everything you need to spend a nice and hassle-free day or two in Sucre. It has several private rooms. Ours was quite large, clean and comfortable. Warm water in the shower. Small outdoor seating area. Helpful staff.

Mi Pueblo Samary Hotel Boutique

Probably one of the best places we stayed in during our stay in Bolivia. This hotel is luxurious, but without pomp. As a result, you immediately feel good there. It occupies the interior of a beautiful, colonial house. There is also a well-kept, elegant garden. Practically the very center. It's worth it!
