In the Yungas Valley lies the small village of Sorata. You may come across the term: Bolivian capital of trekking. And indeed Sorata is. Because it is the main starting point for mountaineers who want to go on the trails of this part of the Andes. Two mighty, snow-capped peaks rise directly above the village: Ancohuma with 6,427 m above sea level and Illampu with 6,62 m above sea level

If you're not necessarily interested in hiking the high and challenging peaks, you can concentrate on the Yungas Valley itself. It offers a fairly mild climate and amazing vegetation of the Amazon rainforest. Sorata itself can charm with colonial buildings and a relaxed atmosphere.
For whom?
If you are a mountaineer and you like to spend time actively , then you must visit Sorata. There are numerous routes waiting for you here, both the more ambitious and the slightly simpler ones. Sorata is also a good choice if you just want to relax surrounded by beautiful views and wild nature.
