Madidi National Park (Parque Nacional Madidi) is an absolute paradise on earth. You will ask why? Well, it is the most biodiverse area on our planet . It stretches in the northwest of Bolivia, along the border with Peru. In the Madidi National Park, 20,000 plant species have been identified, but mainly 272 species of mammals, 213 species of amphibians, 204 species of reptiles, 496 species of fish and 1254 species of birds.

Interestingly, biologists are constantly discovering new, previously unclassified inhabitants there. Hence, some refer to the Madidi National Park as the " largest zoo" on the globe . Of course, such a garden where all animals live in the wild, and people here are only occasional guests. Madidi can be explored, but after paying the admission fee and preferably under the supervision of a qualified guide. It is also worth remembering that the accommodation places are outside the park. The village of Rurrenabaque can be a good base.

For whom?

If you love wild nature and are not afraid of the hardships of travel , the Madidi National Park will be open to you. Remember that getting to this part of Bolivia will take your time and energy. But Madidi will more than compensate you. You will be able to admire the amazing vegetation, numerous colorful birds and other species of animals that will decide to show themselves to you.

Recommended accomodations

Here are the accommodations that we can recommend with a clear conscience. We only recommend hotels that we have visited ourselves.

Atarisi Lodge

An absolutely magical place. We came here in December to enjoy the peace and quiet. We succeeded 100% because Atarisi is located far from cities, surrounded by wonderful landscapes and lush vegetation. The house we rented was very Instagrammable (not that we were interested in taking photos, etc., but that's what it felt like to us). Conditions are a strong 10 out of 10!

Pampa & Selva

Very good hotel located in Rurrenabaque. I stayed there because it is close to Madidi National Park. The facility itself may not be super modern, but I had no reason to complain. First of all, WiFi worked great, which was very important to me. Secondly, the room was quite large, the bed was very comfortable. Third, the price was low and it included a nice breakfast.

Casa de Campo

Casa de Campo is a very nice guesthouse where my wife and I had the opportunity to spend a total of two days. And we decide that we could go back there someday. And it's all thanks to the owner who took care of us like good friends. He went on a jungle trip with us and served the best dinner and breakfast we had in Bolivia. We recommend it to everyone!
Perezoso Hostel

Perezoso Hostel

This hostel is a really great option for people who, like me, are looking for low-budget places to stay. Additionally, you can meet a lot of positively crazy people here. You can choose between private rooms and beds in dorms. I took a private room for which I paid ridiculously little. Great conditions - a bit rustic, but clean and tidy.
