Bolivia's most famous road? Undoubtedly, it is Yungas Road , also called very figuratively ... Death Road . It was built in the 1930s by Paraguayan prisoners of war. It connected La Paz with the Yungas region. It is estimated that about 300 people died there every year . Hence its notoriety and the name Death Road.

As the newer artery linking La Paz with Coroico was built, the importance of Yungas Road declined. But then the media and tourists joined the action. Programs such as Top Gear quickly promoted Death Road as a trip destination. And although the route can be terrifying at times, with common sense you can easily complete it. The most popular form of exploring this 70 km long road is cycling , but downhill. Spectacular views, amazing nature and a lot of impressions await you along its entire length. You can be sure that your adrenaline level will jump significantly here.
