Cordillera Real is an amazing range stretching east and northeast of La Paz, which is part of the Andes chain. An interesting story is associated with the name of these mountains. Well, when the Spanish colonizers found themselves in this corner of Bolivia, they were to be so impressed with him that they named him Cordillera Real (where real means royal in this context).

Currently, these mountains are a popular trekking destination for people from all over the world. What attracts them here? In addition to beautiful views, fairly certain weather, a well-prepared network of trails in the lower parts of the mountains and ambitious goals in the form of seven six-thousanders with Ancohuma, Illampu and Huayna Potosì at the forefront. However, as many as 600 peaks reach a height of over 5000 m above sea level , so there is a lot to choose from. Guests from abroad not only appreciate the beauty and majesty of Cordillera Real. These mountains also provide an insight into the life of the local population, including shepherds grazing llamas and miners. The walk through Cordillera Real will therefore be an unforgettable experience in every possible way.

For whom?

Cordillera Real is an offer for slightly more experienced mountaineers . Especially when you want to climb some of the highest peaks. If you already have your first alpine expeditions behind you, then you should be able to cope in these mountains. Other people may decide to explore the lower parts of Cordillera Real, which are also very interesting, or take part in expeditions organized by specialized agencies.
