Amboro & Carrasco are two national parks that together form a huge protected area stretching between the city of Cochabamba and Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Parque Nacional Carrasco is on the west side, closer to the first city. It has existed since the 1980s. There are rainforests and amazing rock formations on its territory.

One of the most famous attractions of Carrasco are the Night Bird Caves , where you can admire several species of bats and hear the oil bird. Parque Nacional Amboró is located on the eastern side, closer to Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Known for its rugged and varied topography, it lies within three distinct ecosystems: the Andes foothills, northern Chaco and the Amazon basin. As a result, it boasts an exceptionally diverse flora and fauna. There are over 800 species of birds in its area, but also many interesting mammals such as tapirs, armadillos, spider mites, jaguars, giant anteaters, pumas, ocelots and spectacled bears. The Amboro & Carrasco parks not only offer an amazing insight into Bolivian wildlife, but also offer a wonderful escape from civilization.
For whom?
Amboro & Carrasco parks are an offer for people who want to stay in the midst of amazing nature , away from the hustle and bustle of cities and towns. There are not many amenities here. In addition, the terrain of both parks is demanding to explore, and at times even dangerous. However, if you have Indiana Jones's vein in you , then you should go there.
