The area is located in the central part of the Argentinean coast, between the town of Trelew and Comodoro Rivadavia.

Tourists can visit Punta Tombo from September to April, and admission is ticketed. More than half a million Magellanic penguins live in a small peninsula . You can also observe other species of birds here. There is also a small visitor center on site and guided tours are mainly organized from Trelew.
