Uxmal is undoubtedly one of the most important attractions of the whole of Mexico, or at least the Yucatan. Under the name, which translates as "built three times", is the ancient Mayan city. In the period of prosperity , it was supposed to be inhabited by as many as 20,000 people . What makes it stand out? First of all, it was built in the uniquely characteristic Puuc style .

The buildings consist of concrete blocks, while usually the upper part of the facade is decorated with very intricate stone mosaics. Uxmal is not the only Pucc-style Mayan city, but it is definitely the most beautiful of them. The most impressive building in the archaeological park is the Soothsayer's Pyramid , almost 40 meters high! However, the most beautiful object is the House of the Nuns, which will delight you with the number of decorative elements.
For whom?
Although Uxmal is a really important and impressive reminder of the Mayan culture, tourists come here rather sporadically. First of all, because it is just far away from the main resorts or the more popular cities among foreign guests. Therefore, if you are looking for places outside the main tourist routes , Uxmal will be an excellent choice. It is also a real treat for fans of archeology and the history of ancient peoples.
