Oaxaca is considered one of the most important cities in terms of history, culture and even food in Mexico. You may have heard of it because its historic center is on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. The walk will reveal not only the picturesque corners of Oaxaci and charming streets, but also a lot of interesting museums.

However, the most important attraction of this area can be found on the outskirts of the city. It is, of course, the Zona Arqueológica de Monte Albán . This is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Mexico, located at an altitude of 2000 m above sea level. A stay in Oaxaca is also a great opportunity to try the local cuisine and flavors. Be sure to plan a tour of the local restaurants and visit the local markets.

For whom?

Go to Oaxaca if you like to explore intensively . This is where you will be able to explore Mexican history and culture. Both in museums and during the exploration of the archaeological site. Oaxaca is also a gourmands paradise . If you love good food and appreciate new flavors, this city will have a lot to offer you. The local dining options are known for their high quality and cultivating culinary traditions.

Here are the accommodations that we can recommend with a clear conscience. We only recommend hotels that we have visited ourselves.

Hotel Villa Alta

Villa Alta is a very nice, small hotel that was a great base for us to explore Oaxaca. Very nice, well-kept interiors. Bright room. It had two large, comfortable beds. In addition, a quite large, sparklingly clean bathroom. Very affordable.

Hotel Parador de Alcalá

The hotel is located in the heart of the city, so I could walk everywhere. Its advantage, apart from its location, is also the fact that it has an outdoor swimming pool. During the hot summer, it was nice to take a break from sightseeing to cool off in its waters. The view from the roof where the swimming pool is located was also great. Overall the hotel is great.

Azul Cielo Hostel

I absolutely recommend this hostel. It is an extraordinary place on the map of Oaxaca. First of all, because of the beautiful building and the interior in which it was decorated. It's cozy, artistic, neat. My girlfriend and I rented a private room. But from what we saw, the dorms were also super prepared. The view from the terrace was great!
Hotel CasAntica

Hotel CasAntica

Overnight stay in a 16th century building? These things are guaranteed by the CasAntica hotel. My wife insisted on spending the night there. And I must admit she was right. The hotel has an incredibly atmospheric atmosphere. Arcaded balconies overlooking the courtyard with swimming pool. The room is tastefully decorated and quite spacious. The only drawback - it had no window. Apparently some rooms are like that. But overall it wasn't problematic for us.
Hotel Hacienda

Hotel Hacienda

A very good class hotel, with an outdoor swimming pool and a garden. A bit from the very center, but there were no problems with parking. I liked the room. There was nothing missing in it. The service was very nice and friendly - they helped with transport to the center. The price is very competitive compared to other hotels.
