Copper Canyon is an area of six canyons under the protection of UNESCO , which together are four times the size of the Grand Canyon in the United States. They cross the Sierra Madre mountains, being a kind of a mecca for tourists seeking views and the possibility of active tourism. You're probably wondering what is the best way to explore Copper Canyon?

Well, there is only one answer - by train! El Chepe (Ferrocarril Barrancas del Cobre) is a train that covers a route of almost 700 km, from Chihuahua to Los Mochis. It's best to travel from west to east to enjoy the best views. Thanks to the numerous stations on the route, you will be able to explore not only the canyons themselves, but also the towns located there. In addition, waterfalls, hiking trails, bicycle routes and companies offering horseback riding are waiting for you here.

For whom?

If you prefer active forms of spending your free time , then a visit to Copper Canyon should be a must-see in Mexico. You will be able to hike in the mountains, ride a horse or bike. But you will also have the opportunity to visit colonial towns or admire the wonders of nature.

Hotel Paraiso del Oso

Beautifully situated hotel below a rock formation. The conditions were rather basic, but for me they were absolutely sufficient. The owner is an incredibly kind and helpful person. He helped me organize trips around the area. I recommend!

Hotel Mirador Posada Barranca

Hotel Mirador Posada Barranca is one of the nicest places I stayed in during my stay in Copper Canyon. There are actually phenomenal views of the canyon from there. There is quite a good restaurant on site. The room was ok. Unfortunately the WiFi didn't work. But on the other hand, you don't come there to spend time with your phone.

The Lodge At Creel Eco - Hotel & Spa

Great atmospheric hotel. There is a lot of wood, stones, and nature itself. Very tasty breakfast, nice service. Close to several attractions. The room was large, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was sparkling clean. Value for money really OK!
Hotel Mansion Tarahumara

Hotel Mansion Tarahumara

The Mansion Hotel has quite specific architecture. It's a bit of a gargantuan place with turrets, etc. But on the other hand, it offers really good living conditions, so there's no need to turn your nose up at it too much. There is an indoor swimming pool on site. And the views from the area are magical.

Copper Canyon Riverside Lodge

Absolute dope! This hotel is a former hacienda within Copper Canyon. Views, nature around - amazing! The hotel itself is a great atmospheric place, with beautiful architecture and nicely renovated interiors. Guests have access to terraces overlooking the surroundings and garden. The room was also great.
