Chinchorro Banco is one of the most unusual places in Mexico. It is the largest coral atoll in the country. It is located in front of the small town of Mahahual, which is the best base for exploring Chinchorro Banco. Researchers have identified about 2,500 different species belonging to both flora and fauna that live in the atoll.

You can see here, among others rays, lobsters, whiskered sharks and turtles. However, the real attraction of Chinchorro Banco are ... sunken ships. There are as many as 68 of them here! Some are even several hundred years old. This makes the atoll one of the most popular diving sites in Mexico. Chinchorro Banco is also a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve .

We spent a very pleasant three days at the Almaplena Beach resort. The place offers a lot of privacy because it is located away from the main tourist routes. The beach that stretches right next to the hotel is perfect - white, delicate sand and turquoise sea. The views are stunning too!

This hotel offers great value for money. It is neither a large nor a very modern facility. The interiors bring to mind a home, not a hotel. But it made me feel really good here. There is a swimming pool and a garden on site, and the beautiful beach is literally three steps away.

Hotel Pachamama is an exceptionally charming place. This small facility offers a wonderful atmosphere that makes it difficult to leave. The interiors are decorated with a great sense of style. There are lots of beautiful plants, furniture and accessories here. The view from the terrace - beautiful. The price is very affordable.

Business Hotel by Kan Ahau

It's quite a modern hotel with a large outdoor swimming pool. A small note here - the windows face directly towards it, so it may be a bit noisy during the day. However, there weren't many guests there during my visit. The beach is less than a minute's walk away. The price is adequate to the quality.
