Chichen Itza is one of Mexico's most important archaeological sites located on the Yucatan Peninsula. However, his fame extends far beyond the country's borders. Every year more than 2,500,000 guests from all over the world come here. All this made Chichen Itza announced in 2007 as the new, seventh wonder of the world . But what is really under this name.

Chichen Itza was (and still is) a pilgrimage center for the Maya. The city was founded by water sorcerers, or Itza, in the 5th century AD. The whole complex is divided into two parts: the old one with 6 Mayan ruins and the new one with 20 Mayan ruins. The most beautiful building is the Kukulcan Pyramid , which impresses with the perfection of its form and precision of workmanship. However, there are many more attractions there. Therefore, be prepared for a longer tour and take comfortable shoes with you.

For whom?

Chichen Itza is one of the must-see places of both the Yucatan Peninsula and Mexico. Exploring this archaeological park is a real treat for fans of history , ancient cultures and, of course, the Maya themselves.

La Casa de las Lunas

Great hotel, in a great location, very close to the Mayan ruins. So if someone wants to feel the atmosphere of the area and start visiting the archaeological park in the morning, I recommend this place. I rate the conditions as high 8 out of 10. Nice interiors, everything well-kept, and a swimming pool in the garden.

Hotel Doralba Inn Chichen

A very good option for one night. Close to the ruins (max. 5 minutes by car). The price is very affordable. There is a beautiful, shaded garden with a swimming pool on site - an ideal space to relax after intense sightseeing. The room is decorated simply, but very neatly.

Mayan Bungalow Near Chichén

Tired after exploring the ruins of Chichen Itza, we stopped for the night at Mayan Bungalow. The houses are not super exclusive, but they have their own atmosphere. Additionally, they are comfortably and pleasantly furnished. The owner is very nice, open and helpful. Delicious breakfast, with a large selection of freshly baked bread, fruit and other delicacies.

Mayaland Hotel & Bungalows

An interesting proposition if someone would like to stop in this area before/after visiting the ruins. The hotel amazed us with its amazing architecture, beautiful interiors and a nice garden. It is certainly not the cheapest accommodation option, but the most exclusive and comfortable. My wife and I were very pleased with our choice.
