Chacchoben

About 170 km south of Tulum is Chacchoben . If this name does not mean anything to you, we are in a hurry to explain. This is another Mayan city ruin in this area. The first human settlement existed here as early as 1000 BC! It is not known how this place was called then and later. The term Chacchoben has been given to him today.

The ruins are part of the archaeological park , which covers an area of 6 km². However, only a fragment of it is available to tourists. The biggest attractions of Chacchoben are Plaza B, behind which is the Gran Basamento and Temple I - the most impressive building of the complex. It has the form of a pyramid, with a well-preserved, stepped facade. Chacchoben not only allows you to admire the magnificent architecture created by the Maya, but also gives you the opportunity to walk through the jungle that has partially taken over the ruins.
For whom?
You will love Chacchoben if you are an explorer and you like to explore all sorts of ruins or archaeological parks. A stay here also gives you a good insight into the history of the Maya and their architecture and art.
