Caernarfon
Caernarfon is a charming town situated on the Menai Strait. It is here that you will find the largest and most famous castle in all of Wales. Caernarfon Castle was built by Edward I in the 13th century. It was to serve as both a royal residence and a defensive fort. For Caernarfon, with its highly strategic location, might have been a tasty morsel. Currently, the fortress is eagerly visited by tourists. The fact that it has been preserved in a really good condition until our times is certainly very impressive. It is also worth adding that due to its historical and architectural values, it was under the protection of UNESCO .

The Welsh Highland Railway has its departure station in the town. It is the oldest railway line in Great Britain, connecting Caernarfon with Blaenau. A ride on it offers truly spectacular views. In the town itself you will also find museums, galleries, but also quite pleasant walking areas.
